  • Wasim Jaffer first ever scored 10000 runs in Ranji

He reached at this milestone while playing a match against Bengal at the Jadavpur University second campus ground in Saltlake.
Wasim Haffer has made debut for Mumbai in 1996-97.

  • Arundhati Bhattacharya (SBI) topped the list of most powerful business women

Second place has been secured by Chanda Kochhar of ICICI Bank while Shikha Sharma of Axis Bank is at third place in this list.
Arundhati Bhattacharya was also at top spot in previous ranking.


  • Indian Railways wins 32nd Indian Oil Surjit Hockey Tournament

Image result for Indian Railways wins 32nd Indian Oil Surjit Hockey TournamentIndian Railways has won 32nd edition of Indian Oil Surjit Hockey tournament for the first time. In the final match played at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium in Jalandhar (Punjab), Indian Railways team defeated defending champions Indian Oil Mumbai by 4-3 score.
The winners were presented a cheque of Rs 5 lakh and the trophy. Runners-up get cash award of Rs 2.50 lakh and trophy. The Player of the Tournament Malak Singh of Indian Railways was given a cash award of Rs 25000.
About Surjit Memorial Hockey Tournament :-
Surjit Memorial Hockey Tournament is an annual hockey tournament organized by Surjit Hockey Society in Jalandhar (Punjab) in the memory of  Surjit Singh Randhawa.
Sardar Surjit Singh Randhawa was an Indian field hockey player, who played for India national field hockey team at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. He was a full back and captain of India field hockey team.

  • Indian Army successfully test fires Brahmos supersonic land attack missile

Indian Army has successfully test fired the Brahmos supersonic land attack cruise missile at Pokhran in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan.

It was test fired from an Autonomous Mobile Launcher (AML) in full configuration and met all the mission objectives.

About Brahmos supersonic land attack missile

It is a fire-and-forget Missile with capability of destroying surface-based targets by flying a combined high-low trajectory by evading enemy air defence systems.
It has been designed and developed by a joint venture between DRDO of India and NPO Mashinostroyeniya (NPOM) of Russia.
The name Brahmos has been derived from the names of two rivers namely the Brahmaputra of India and the Moskva of Russia.

  • Features: It has range of 300-km and a top supersonic speed of Mach 2.8. It can be launched from sea, sub-sea, land and air against sea and land targets.
  • Capable of carrying a conventional as well as nuclear warhead of 300 kilogram. It is two-stage missile, first stage being propelled by solid propellant and second stage propelled by Ramjet liquid propellant.
  • Induction: Indian Army already has inducted 3 regiments of Brahmos in its arsenal and land-attack version has been operationalised since 2007 in the Army.

ZUHAI (China)  Top-seeded Venus Williams beat Karolina Pliskova 7-5, 7-6 (6) to win the WTA Elite Trophy on Sunday.
Pliskova had a set point at 6-5 in the tiebreaker but Williams hit back-to-back forehand winners to close out the win.
"Seven weeks here in Asia and now I feel like it's my home," Williams said. "I'm so excited to win the first trophy in Zhuhai. All the players felt so welcome here and we appreciated all of the enthusiasm."
With her third win of the year, Williams returns to the top 10 for the first time in more than four years.
The tournament brought together 11 of the top players who did not qualify for last week's WTA Finals in Singapore.
