Lt Gen Hanut Singh,The  Hero of 1971 Indo-Pak War is No More


Retired Lieutenant General Hanut Singh passed away in Dehradun at the age of 82. He was one of most able officers in India Army and is also a hero of 1971 Indo-Pak war.

  • He earned the named Hero of Battle of Basantnagar. He retired in the year 1991 and is now staying in Dehradun. 
  • He founded Shivbala Yoga Ashram Parisar there. 
  • He also received Maha Vir Chakra.



Jitu Rai Won Bronze Media at International Shooting Sport Federation world Cup


  • Indian shooter Jitu Rai won bronze media at International Shooting Sports Federation world cup which is going on in South Korea. 
  • Jongoh of South Korea won the gold medal and the silver medal is won the Naung Ye Tun of Myanmar.


New Zealand Won Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament 2015


  • This is the second Azlan Shah title for New Zealand. 
  • New Zealand defeated Australia by 3-1 goals in the final. 
  • New Zealand won the title earlier in 2012. 
  • Australia reached the final of Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey tournament three times in 1999, 2006 and 2015. 
  • The tournament is held in Malaysia.


Sania Mirza Ranked World No.1 in Women’s Doubles

Sania Mirza, the tennis sensation of India created another history by becoming the first Indian woman to be ranked world number in double category. She achieved this after winning WTA Family Circle Cup by defeating Cassey dellacqua and Darjia Jurak. Her doubles partner is Martina Hingis. Sania is also the first Indian female player to win grand slam tournaments.

Air Pegasus became the newest air service operator in India.


  • Its first flight took off from Bangalore to Hubli. 
  • The flight was inaugurated by Union Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju. 
  • The air service was given flying permit in 2014.



RBI relaxes 2-factor authentication for payments up to Rs. 2,000


  • Can pay up to Rs. 2,000 without punching the password at any retail outlet or while shopping online.
  • One can also avoid swiping cards at retail outlets and instead just tap or waive to the card reading machines.


SBI become the first bank to launches contactless card payment tech.

  • Contactless cards use the near-field communication (NFC) technology, enabling users to make payments by waving or tapping the card near the contactless reader instead of swiping or dipping it

Deepak Iyer appointed as CEO and MD of Bharti AXA General Insurance.


  • He will  take charge from Interim CEO and MD Milind Chalisgaonkar and join the board of company by end of June 2015.
  • Presently, he is working as the MD-Indian subcontinent at Wrigley India, a subsidiary of the US-based Mars.




President Pranab Mukherjee appoints new Governors in six states

The newly appointed Governors


  • Jharkhand: Former Odisha Minister Droupadi Murmu was appointed as Governor of Jharkhand. She will replace Dr Syed Ahmed.
  • Manipur: Dr Syed Ahmed has been transfered to Manipur for remaining period of his term.
  • Arunachal Pradesh: J P Rajkhowa was appointed as Governor of Arunachal Pradesh. He will replace Lt. General (Retd.) Nirbhay Sharma.
  • Mizoram: Lt. General (Retd.) Nirbhay Sharma has been transferred and appointed as Governor of Mizoram for the remainder of his term.
  • Tripura: Tathagata Roy will be the Governor of Tripura.
  • Meghalaya:  V. Shanmuganthan has been appointed as Meghalaya Governor.
