  • India lost Solar case against which country at WTO - US
India lost a case against the United States at WTO (World Trade Organization) as the Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) of WTO ruled that India's domestic content requirements under its ambitious solar power programme Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) were inconsistent with the international trade norms.

India can now approach the appellate body of WTO against the dispute panel's ruling.
As Last year, the US dragged India to WTO on country’s solar mission plan. The US alleged that India’s programme appears to discriminate against the US solar equipment by requiring solar energy producers to use locally manufactured cells and by offering subsidies to those developers who use domestic equipment.

  • Rajiv Mangla was appointed as CTO of Snapdeal 

Among the Important Appointments, Former Adobe executive Rajiv Mangla was appointed as chief technology officer (CTO) by Snapdeal. He is taking over from Amitabh Misra, who had quit in February to start a new travel venture Bona Vita Technologies, in which MakeMyTrip recently picked up a majority stake for $5 million.

  • Ananth Padmanabhan was appointed as CEO of Harper Collins India 

Ananth Padmanabhan was appointed as new CEO of Publishers HarperCollins India. He will be having overall responsibility for all divisions of the business and will report to Charlie Redmayne, CEO of HarperCollins UK.
Ananth Padmanabhan succeeded P M Sukumar.

  • Indian Scientist received Dr Modadugu Vijay Gupta inaugural Sunhak Peace Prize 

 Indian scientist Dr. M. Vijay Gupta was awarded with first Sunhak Peace Prize. This award is given to eminent individuals from around the world for their contribution to peace and development of the world. 
Dr Modadugu Vijay Gupta is an Indian agriculture scientist and has done a great work in aquaculture in India, Bangladesh and several Southeast Asian countries. Due to his this great contribution in blue revolution he was selected for this award. 
The Sunhak Peace Prize pursues the three key banners of ‘respect for human rights’, ‘conflict reconciliation’, and ‘ecological conservation’.
The laureate is awarded with a certificate, a medal, and US 1 million dollars.
Dr. M. Vijay Gupta was also awarded with World Food Prize in 2005, for development and dissemination of low-cost techniques for freshwater fish farming by the rural poor.

  • India signed pact with which country to curb Black Money - Seychelles

Indian Govt inked an agreement with Seychelles in order to curb tax evasion and boost its efforts to fight against black money. Apart from this agreements in sectors such as agricultural research and space,  maritime security, air services were being signed to deepen the engagement.
The agreement will enable the competent authorities of India and Seychelles to provide assistance through the exchange of information that is foreseeably relevant to the administration and enforcement of the domestic laws of two countries concerning taxes. The agreement also provides for a Mutual Agreement Procedure for resolving any difference or for agreeing on procedures.
Capital of Seychelles is Victoria and President of Seychelles is James Michel.

  • NTPC sets a record for - Single-day power generation

Image result for NTPC sets a record for - Single-day power generationa record of highest single-day electricity generation of over 733 million units was created by India’s largest power generator National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Limited.
The record was achieved from NTPC’s 18 coal-based power plants, and 8 solar and hydro power stations and 7 gas-based units. The Declared Cumulative Capability (DCC) of the stations on the record day was 91.10% and Plant Load Factor (PLF) was of 86.34%.
About National Thermal Power Corporation Limited
  • NTPC limited is a Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU), operational under the charge of Union Ministry of Power.
  • It was established in 1975 by Union Government which now holds 70% of its equity shares.
  • It is headquatered in New Delhi.
  • In 2014-15, NTPC had contributed 25% of total electricity generated in the country and accounted for 16% share of country’s total installed capacity of 45,548 MW.

  • She was appointed as the President of the Court of Cassation in July 2015. Presently, she is the most senior judge in Greece.

11th World Championships gold with relay win was secured by - Usain Bolt

The USA finished second but were disqualified after a faulty final changeover, meaning China were promoted to silver and Canada bronze.
It was Bolt's third gold of the championships after victories in the 100m and 200m.
