  • Nigeria won 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup
Image result for Nigeria won 2015 FIFA U-17 World CupNigeria won the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup that was held across 8 cities in Chile since 17 October 2015. In the finals Nigeria  defeated Mali by 2-0. Oshimhen and Bamgboye scored the goals for Nigeria at the 56th and 59th minute respectively.

FIFA U-17 World Cup  is the world championship of association football for male players under the age of 17 organized by Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).

Nigeria is the most successful nation in the tournament's history, with five titles and three runners up. The Brazil is the second most successful with three titles and two runners up. Ghana and Mexico have won the tournament twice.

  • Jet Airways to acquire 75 Boeing 737 Max 8 Planes
Image result for Jet Airways to acquire 75 Boeing 737 Max 8 PlanesIndia's second-biggest airline by market share "Jet Airways" has made an announcement to buy 75 Boeing 737 Max 8 planes which is considered to be single biggest order by volume till date. Jet Airways will be the first airline in India to take delivery of the 737 MAX planes.

Jet Airways has ordered 160-seater planes costing USD110 million each amounting a total of USD 8.2 billion at Jet's order volume. The order includes conversions of 25 Next-Generation (NG) 737s to 737 MAX 8s, as well as options and purchase rights for an additional 50 aircraft.

Deliveries of the planes will begin from 2018, a year after the airline starts taking Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. All the planes will be financed through sale and leaseback. Jet currently has a fleet of 115 planes.
This is the second big order by an Indian carrier this year. In August, Jet's bigger rival IndiGo announced an order for 250 Airbus A320 Neo planes at a total list price value of USD 26.5 billion


  • Name the portals launched by Union Government - E-Pathshala, Saransh, Shaala Siddhi Portals

Saransh platform
It is a tool which enables schools to identify areas of improvement in students, teachers and curriculum to provide and implement change.
Currently, it is available for 9th to 12th standard.

E-Pathshala web portal

It is a web portal which hosts educational resources for Students, educators, researchers, teachers and Parents.
It comprises of textbooks and other e-books in English, Hindi and Urdu.
Shaala Siddhi web portal
The service will help all schools to inspect themselves and people can provide feedback to them.
It has already been successfully carried out in four districts of Tamil Nadu.


  • Santoor maestro Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma honoured with Kala Shikhar award

Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao presented the award to 77-year-old Sharma here last evening.
Maharashtra Governor  also presented the Kala Kiran Awards to Murad Ali Khan (Sarangi), Satyajit Talwalkar (Tabla) and Special Jury Award to Sanjeev and Ashwani Shankar (both Shehnai).
Noted personalities like Lata Mangeshkar, Pt Bhimsen Joshi, Pt Jasraj, Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, Pt Ram Narayan, MF Hussain, Habib Tanvir, Gangubai Hangal and Dr Girija Devi are some of the past recipients of the award.
The Sangit Kala Kendra was founded by late industrialist Aditya Vikram Birla in 1973 to encourage and nurture the various visual and performing arts. The awards were instituted in 1996
