 World Hepatitis Day is being observed around the globe.

About World Hepatitis Day
It is one of the 8 official global public health campaigns marked by the World Health Organization (WHO) and is being observed since 2010.
This day marks the birthday of Professor Baruch Blumberg who had discovered hepatitis B virus and was awarded with the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine (1976) for this discovery.

Hepatitis name has derived from Greek word ‘Hepar’ meaning liver and ‘itis’ meaning inflammation. Therefore, it is a medical situation in which there occurs inflammation of liver cells and its complexity vary with the type of infection.
There are five types of hepatitis : A, B, C, D and E. A different hepatitis virus is responsible for each type.
It is caused by a group of viruses known as hepatitis virus and also be caused by intoxicants like chemicals, alcohol, drugs and other infections and autoimmune diseases.

  •  The chairman of TRAI - IT Secretary R S Sharma
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) appointed IT Secretary Ram Sevak Sharma as the chairman of telecom regulator. He will succeed Rahul Khullar who had retired in May 2015.

About Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI)
To regulate telecom services in India, TRAI was established in 1997 by an Act of Parliament, which was introduced because of the private sector in telecom. TRAI manages telecommunication services and fixes or revises the tariffs for telecom services.
The purpose of TRAI is to deliver a fair and transparent environment in telecom market for fair competition. It was established with the motive to create and nurture conditions for growth of telecommunication sector in India and to enable the country to have a leading role in the emerging global information society.

  • CONCACAF Gold Cup Football tournament was won by - Mexico

Image result for CONCACAF Gold Cup Football tournament was won by - Mexico Mexico defeated Jamaica in the final of CONCACAF Gold Cup football tournament to bag the regional tournament for the record 7th time.
In the semi-finals, Panama was defeted by Mexico while Jamaica defeated the United States to reach the final of the Gold Cup.
Now Mexico will compete with US at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, for CONCACAF'S spot in the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia.
About CONCACAF Gold Cup
The CONCACAF Gold Cup is the mark tournament of the Caribbean region, North American and Central American. It was established in 1961.

CONCACAF stands for Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football. Its members are the nations of three regions and independent nations of Guyana and Suriname and the French department of French Guiana.

  •  Town of Punjab was attacked by Terrorist - Dinanagar town of Gurdaspur

After the end of Khalistani terrorism in 1980s, this was the first terrorist attack Punjab in two decades.
After fierce gunbattle lasting over 11 hours the special units of the Punjab Police SWAT killed all the terrorist.

  • Chairman of food safety regulator FSSAI - Ashish Bahuguna

He has succeeded K Chandramouli who completed his tenure in the month of January 2015. Since then Health Secretary Bhanu Pratap Sharma was given the interregnum charge of chairman of FSSAI.
Ashish is a Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Rajasthan cadre 1978-batch who retired from the post of Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture in February 2015.
About FSSAI
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) was established under Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 which consolidates various acts & orders that have hitherto handled food related issues in various Ministries and Departments.

Lt Governor Najeeb Jung approved her appointment as Chairperson of Delhi Commisson for Women. She has succeeded Barkha Singh and is an RTI activist.
She handles Kejriwal's Janta Samwad and has been an advisor on public grievances. She has been kindred with him since India Against Corruption (IAC) days.

  • Royal Bengal Tiger population falls rapidly in - Bangladesh part of Sundarbans

According to Tiger Census 2015, tigers in Bangladesh part of the Sundarbans declined sharply from 440 in 2004 to 106 in 2015.
The decline was accredited to lack of proper forest management, unchecked wildlife plunder, animal-human conflict in the forest and loss of habitat.
Bangladesh-India Joint Tiger Census Project jointly conducted the Tiger Census 2015 and was carried out under Strengthening Regional Cooperation for Wildlife Protection in Asia Project with funding from the World Bank.

  • With whom Google signed a MoU to launch Project Google Loon - Sri Lanka
Image result for With whom Google signed a MoU to launch Project Google Loon - Sri Lanka a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Government of Sri Lanka and search engine giant Google to launch the Google Loon project in the country.
Accordding to the MoU, high-speed 3G (3rd Generation) internet services will be provided to the whole country by placing 13 high-altitude balloons over the island nation. Free Wi-Fi connectivity across Sri Lanka is also expected from this project.
Sri Lanka will be the first nation in the world to have Internet access covering the whole country with the government support after the successful implementation of this project.
About Google Loon project
It is a research and development project of Google with the objective of providing Internet access to rural and remote areas.
In this project, Google will place high altitude ‘floating telecom tower’ balloons in the sky which will provide full broadband internet coverage.
Balloons will consists of transceivers which can connect to cell phone networks filling gaps in their networks especially in remote areas such as mountains and deserts.
