India’s first Commercial Court and Commercial Disputes Resolution Centre inaugurated in Chattisgarh

India’s first Commercial Court and Commercial Disputes Resolution Centre was inaugurated at Raipur, capital of Chhattisgarh. It was inaugurated by State Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh along with Supreme Court judge Madan B. Lokur.

The first Commercial Court and Commercial Disputes Resolution Centre complex has ultra-modern facilities like e-Court, e-Library, e-Filing, Video-conferencing and e-Summons. It will help in improving the judicial system and the investors and business world. It will also facilitate the investors in their commercial dealings. The court also consists of arbitration centre and a mediation centre Advertisemen



B Sai Praneeth wins 2016 Canada Open Grand Prix Badminton title

Ace Indian shuttler B Sai Praneeth (World no 33) has won the 2016 Canada Open Grand Prix Badminton title in the men’s singles category. In the final match played at Calgary Praneeth defeated Lee Hyun II of South Korea by  21-12, 21-10 score.

Men’s doubles title
  •  Indian pair Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy also won the 2016 Canada Open Grand Prix Badminton title in the men’s doubles category. 
  • In the final match, they defeated Canadian pair of Adrian Liu and Toby Ng by 21-8 21-14 score. Reddy and Attri pair is the first Indian men’s doubles pair to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics. 


Gurpreet Singh Sandhu becomes first Indian footballer to play in Europa League

Gurpreet Singh Sandhu became the first Indian football player to play in UEFA Europa League. He achieved this feat after was named in Norwegian club Stabaek FC’s squad for qualifying match against Connah’s Quay Nomads FC in Europa League.


About Gurpreet Singh Sandhu 
  • Born on 3 February 1992 in Mohali, Punjab. Presently, he plays as a goalkeeper for Norwegian Tippeligaen football club Stabaek and also represents Indian national team. 
  • He is the fifth Indian football player to play in Europe at professional level after Mohammed Salim, Baichung Bhutia, Sunil Chhetri and Subrata Pal. 
  • In Indian national team he made his debut for the U19s in the 2010 against the Iraq U19s in the AFC U-19 Championship.
  •  In 2011 AFC Asian Cup, he had played for senior Indian team squad of 23 against Turkmenistan.

Exercise RIPMAC 2016 begins


•      Exercise RIMPAC 2016, the Pacific military exercise, began at Hawaii with 26 nations participating in the war games that will cover the Hawaiian Island and southern California.


•      The theme of RIMPAC 2016 is Capable, Adaptive, Partners. RIMPAC 2016 is the 25th exercise in the series that began in 1971.



6 Indian amusement parks among Asia's top 25


·        India's six amusement parks have been listed among Asia's top 25 by Tripadvisor.



·        These parks include Bengaluru's Wonderla, Hyderabad's Ramoji Film City, Mumbai's Imagica Theme Park, Kochi's Wonderla, Mumbai's EsselWorld, and Kolkata's Nicco Park.


·        The list, topped by Singapore's Universal Studios, has the most listings from India, followed by Japan and China with five each.


China builds world's largest radio telescope


·        In order to hunt for extraterrestrial life and explore space, China has built the world's largest radio telescope, named FAST (Five Hundred Metre Aperture Spherical Telescope).


·        The radio telescope is equivalent to the size of 30 football fields. It took about five years to build and is expected to begin operations in September

·        The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports granted recognition to Paralympic Committee of India (PCI).
·        The recognition comes as a huge confidence boost to the several para-athletes who have qualified for Rio Paralympics.

·        The Ministry granted recognition to PCI after having conducted free and fair elections with a former Justice of Allahabad High Court as Returning Officer, and after recognition by International Paralympic Committee.
