  • Sourav Ganguly's record of fastest 8000 ODI runs was broked by - AB de Villiers

The feat was attained during the third ODI against New Zealand in Durban which South Africa won by 62 runs.
The previous record held by former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly was broken by De Villiers, who went past 8000 runs in just his 182 innings.
De Villiers currently holds the record for the fastest 150, fastest half-century and fastest century in ODIs.

  • Usain Bolt won 200 meter title at 2015 World Championships in Athletics in Beijing 
The 200 meter title at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics held at Beijing in China was won by Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt.

  • Second version of India Energy Security Scenarios 2047 was launched by - NITI Aayog
The second version of the India Energy Security Scenarios 2047 (IESS 2047) was launched by the NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Arvind Panagariya.

The motive of this open source web based tool is to explore a range of potential future energy scenarios for India, for diverse energy demand and supply sectors leading up to 2047.
In March 2014, the first version of the energy calculator was launched by Planning Commission, which is now obsolete.

  • Reliance Communications Ltd tied up with - Jasper
 Reliance Communications Ltd. (RCoM) tied up with the USA based Jasper Technologies, Inc. to offer Internet of Things (IoT) services in India.

Key Features
  • IoT services are offfered to Enterprises and individuals in India to monitor individual behavioural patterns and to launch and manage business activities.
  • RCoM will install chips that can broadcast feedback to its data centres for processing and appropriate action.
  • It uses RCoM’s Global Cloud Xchange (Cloud X) with 11 data centres and Jasper Centre platform to enable enterprises to deliver IoT services

  • Air India has won Guru Tegh Bahadur Hockey title 

  • The Guru Tegh Bahadur Hockey title was won by Air India's Hockey team. The last title was won by Air India in 2008.

Player of the final Award was won by the Air India's goalkeeper Adrian D'Souza from the tournament's organizers, Mumbai Hockey Association Limited. Best Goalkeeper in the tournament was awarded to Army’s goalkeeper Najmudeen.

  • Kandakatla Manohar is appointed as Director of NIMS 
Dr Kandakatla Manohar was appointed as the Director of Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) of Hyderabad. He has replaced Dr L Narendranath.

Background
In 2014, a writ petition was filed in the AP High Court, questioning the government's decision to appoint Dr L Narendranath as Director of NIMS. Petitioner Dr RJ Bhaskar claimed that the appointment of Dr Narendranath was in violation of Rule 3 of the minimum qualifications for teachers in Medical Institutions Regulations, 1988.
Dr Narendranath never worked as professor of orthopaedics or head of the department for five years as required under the MCI regulations. The minimum qualifications prescribed by the Medical Council of India are binding on all medical institutions in the country.
Following this, the hospital witnessed protests from doctors belonging to Telangana.

  • Festival Thiru Onam celebrated in - Kerala
 Thiru Onam (Thiruvonam) festival, the most auspicious day of the Onam, was celebrated with traditional cheer in Kerala. The celebrations of Onam started with Atham ten days ago.

Keralites celebrated the festival without any boundaries of caste or religion. Thiru Onam celebrations started with the colourful floral pattern called Ona Pookkalam on the floors to welcome Maha Bali.
Ona Pookkalam is similar to rangoli, but made of flowers instead of colour powders. On this day, people of Kerala conducts Poojas at temples, including hill shrine of Sabari Mala, Guruvayur and Thrikkakara, which is believed to be the capital of legendary King Maha Bali.
Onam is a state festival and Hindu Festival of Kerala . It falls during the Malayalam month of Chingam (August – September) and marks the commemoration of Vamana avatara of Vishnu and the subsequent homecoming of the mythical King Mahabali who Malayalees consider as their King.

  • Tripura decided to implement National Food Security Act
State Cabinet of Tripura decided to implement the National Food Security Act (NFSA). Tripura will be the first state to implement the NFSA in entire north-eastern region after the implementation of Act.

25 lakh people from more than six lakh families of the state will be benefitted by its implementation.

  •  Rajiv Mangla is appointed as CTO of Snapdeal - 
 Rajiv Mangla was appointed as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of eCommerce major Snapdeal. Mangla will will lead all aspects of technological development of the company and help the organisation in establishing its technical vision.

He has replaced Amitabh Misra, who vacated the post in February 2015 to start a new travel venture Bona Vita Technologies.
Earlier to this appointment, Mangla was serving as Vice President (Engineering) of Digital Marketing at Adobe Systems. Mangla had also been an entrepreneur for 10 years and founded a couple of companies.
