Indian team won one silver, two bronze in - Archery World Cup
0n 1 May 2016, Indian team bagged one silver and two bronze medals at Archery World Cup at the Yuanshen Stadium in Shanghai.
The silver medal was secured by Indian women's team who lost to Chinese Taipei in the final. Women's team comprising Deepika Kumari, Bombayla Devi Laishram and Laxmirani Majhi lost to the lower-ranked Chinese Taipei 2-6 in the recurve team final.
Know About The Archery World Cup:
• The Archery World Cup was started in 2006, this competition is organized by the World Archery Federation, where the archers compete in four different stages in four different countries and the best eight archers of each category advance to an additional stage to contest the Archery World Cup Final.
Union Government launches - Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) is launched by The Union Government for providing free of cost LPG (cooking gas) connections to women from BPL Households.
This Yojana was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Maldepur Morh, Ballia in Uttar Pradesh.
The tagline for this scheme is Swachh Indhan, Behtar Jeevan.
Know About Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana:
• On 10th March 2016, The Union Cabinet on Economical Affairs sanctioned a scheme to provide free LPG connections to the poor women of the nation.
• Under the scheme of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, about 8,000 crore rupees has been reserved for provide fifty million LPG connections to the poor family units, reported by an authorized statement. However, how to apply for Free LPG Gas connection has still been not mentioned.
The countries inked Air Services Agreement - India, New Zealand
Two countries, India and New Zealand have signed a landmark Air Services Agreement paving the way for introduction of direct flights between the two countries.
In the presence of the President Pranab Mukherjee and the New Zealand Prime Minister John Key, the agreement was signed. This agreement will lead to easier air connectivity between both countries that have inhibited both business travel and people- to- people contact in the past.

Society Fellow
Physicist Sriram Ramaswamy, Director of TIFR Centre for Interdisciplinary Sciences, Hyderabad, was elected as the Fellow of The Royal Society.
Besides, biochemist Ramanujan Hegde, MRC Laboratory of Microbiology, U.K. and applied mathematician Lakshminarayanan Mahadevan, Harvard University, are the other two Indian names who were also elected as the fellows of the premier scientific academy of the U.K. and the Commonwealth.
