A.Telangana Government launches M-Wallet Mobile App

1.Telangana Government has launched M-Wallet, new mobile app to facilitate citizens to get digital copies of documents like driving licence and registration certificate.

2. It was launched by Telangana IT minister KT Rama Rao and Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy in Hyderabad. 

3.It is first of its kind application to be launched in any state of India. 

Key features of M-Wallet 

1.M-wallet mobile application has been developed by Telangana Road Transport Authority for the Transport Department of the Telangana Government. 

2.It helps user to download digital copies of documents like driving licence and registration certificate. 

3.These digital documents could be produced by the users before the police and RTA authorities when demanded. 

4.The application lets user to auto-fetch documents and also share documents.

5. It also allows user to have all the documents on one single screen. 

B.Sand-eating Micrixalus herrei tadpoles species found in Western Ghats

1.Researchers have discovered Sand-eating tadpole species named Micrixalus herrei in Western Ghats. 

2.The tadpole belongs to the so-called Indian Dancing Frog family, Micrixalidae. 

3.They were discovered from the deep recesses of streambeds in the Western Ghats 

Key facts 

1.They get their name Micrixalidae, from their habit of waving their legs as a sign of territorial and sexual display while sitting on boulders in streams. 

2.It lives in total darkness i.e. they are of fossorial [underground] nature and comes out after fully developing into a young frog. 

3.Their fossorial nature is considered as a rare occurrence in the amphibian world. These tadpole species have purple colour and possess muscular eel-like bodies. 

4.They have skin-covered eyes, which helps them to burrow through gravel beds.

C.Faustin Archange Touadera sworn in as new President of Central African Republic

1.Faustin Archange Touadera (58) took the oath of office as the new President of Central African Republic (CAR). 

2.With this he becomes first elected leader of CAR since Muslim rebels had overthrown the government in early 2013. 

3.His presidency puts an end to a two-year transitional government that came into force in early 2014. 

4.Touadera is well respected former mathemathics Professor. He had served as Prime Minister as former Prime Minister of ex-president Francois Bozize from January 2008 to January 2013. 

Background 

1.In the February 2016, runoff elections Touadera as an independent candidate had emerged victorious by securing nearly 63 percent of the total votes. 

2.He had defeated Georges Anicet Dologuele of Union for Central African Renewal Party who had obtained just over or 37.3 percent votes.

D.Oscar winning actor Patty Duke passes away

1.Acclaimed Actor and singer Patty Duke passed away due to Sepsis from a ruptured intestine. She was 69. 

2.She had won Academy award (Oscar) in 1963 at the age of 16 for her portrayal of deaf blind political activist Helen Keller in The Miracle worker. 

About Patty Duke 

1.Born as Anna Marie Duke on December 14, 1946 in Elmhurst, New York, US. 

2.She had started her acting career as a child and her first major role came in 1959, when she portrayed the blind and deaf Keller on Broadway. 

3.She also was known for roles in Valley of the Dolls, My Sweet Charlie and Me, Natalie.
