Shashi Kapoor has been conferred with Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2014.
- He is the third member of his family after father Prithviraj Kapoor (1972- Posthumously) and elder brother Raj Kapoor (1987) and 46th film personality to receive this honour.
About Dadasaheb Phalke Award
- India’s highest award in cinema.
- Established in 1969 to commemorate the birth centenary year of father of Indian cinema Dadasaheb Phalke.
- The award is conferred annually by the Union Government to person for his lifetime contribution to Indian cinema.
- Award comprises a Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus) medallion, a cash prize of 10 lakh rupees and a shawl.
BrahMos Block–III version i.e. land-to-land configuration of missile was launched from a Mobile Autonomous Launcher (MAL) for its full-range of 290-km test.
About BrahMos missile
- A joint venture of India and Russia, BrahMos Aerospace, designed and developed this BrahMos supersonic cruise missile.
- It can be launched from land, sea, sub-sea and air against sea and land targets.
- It has top supersonic speed of Mach 2.8, can strike a target at maximum range of 290-km and can carry a warhead of 300 kilogram.
